Je suis une grande fan de Seph Lawless, grâce à qui j'ai commencé l'Urbex il y a un an. Ses photos sont juste magnifiques, il sait capturer l'âme des endroits abandonnés avec brio !Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas plus de détails/anecdotes sur les endroits en eux mêmes, l'analyse que le photographe fait de la société américaine est très intéressante mais plus de détails sur les lieux auraient été bienvenus. J'achèterai quand même son livre sur les parcs d'attraction abandonnés quand il sortira, car ses photos sont vraiment captivantes !

An interesting, elegiac art book. The pictures are beautiful in a haunting, depressing sort of way. Some other reviewers complain of photoshopping, but that's not my concern.The book shows what has been lost in America, though unfortunately not as well as it could have. For cultural studies of this topic, I want to know what I'm looking at, it's context and history of place, for it to have any meaning beyond the abstract.But I was disappointed that there is no index and no actual descriptions of any of the subject locations. I didn't know if i was looking at a church or factory in New Jersey or Ohio or Detroit or wherever. This mattered a lot to me and would definitely have affected my choosing to purchase.

Terrible book. None of the pictures are labeled. What is the point if you don’t know where the pictures are from, when the places closed and why? The author just rants about how much he or she hates America. Unreadable.

This book is just ok. I realize that it's a photo book, but I was hoping for a little more background information on the places in the photos. There are some pages of explanation, but they are poorly edited, as there are numerous typos/grammatical errors. Seph Lawless's photos are hauntingly beautiful. The book does, however, give an air of hopelessness, leaving the reader/viewer feeling overwhlemed and lost in wondering how to help repair our crumbling nation.

I liked the photographs and story, as I find the theme interesting. However, there were places in Northeast Pennsylvania, that were supposed to becovered in the book, according to an interview the author gave, that weren't in the book; or if they were, they weren't identified as such.It was disappointing from that respect, but overall, I liked the book.

The title suggests a more severe outcome for America than the other books in this genre do. Abandment isnt viewed merely as a trend, but as the final destination to which we are all unavoidingly heading. It's hard to separate the prophesy from the trend, and from that standpoint the book is much less enjoyable. Still, the photography is great, of course.
